CPanel pushed out a server upgrade on Thursday that contained some poorly thought out security rules. As a result all HTTP access to websites and updating of same was cut off for several hours while we tracked down what was causing the problem. The error logs eventually showed us it was the security rules from a particular vendor, and these have noe been disabled. However, customers should consider transitioning to secure SFTP rather than FTP and to https rather than http in their access and links. One of the new rules forbad the upload of any page containing a local http in a URL. All the sites now have security certificates (free to you) so this change is feasible, though it may take some work on your site to achieve.
